We reckon the hardest thing to maintain, and a definite ingredient for a great marriage is considering your spouse's needs. Thats why we do this cool thing called a 'wish list'. Here are the rules...

1. Every so often, to build into your spouse, ask them if there is anything on their 'wish list'. This gives them an opportunity to share things like "It would be great if you could not leave wet towels on the floor" or "I would love it if we could spend some quality time together soon" etc.

2. Remember to respond with grace and genuinely consider their request. Ask at a time when you are really wanting to love them by meeting their needs (not just cause you have something on *your* wish list!!)

3. Only one person can share their wish list at this time. (no reciprocal asking!). This ensures that when your spouse asks you, they are genuinely wanting to know what they can do for you (or not do as the case may be). If you have something on your wish list, just keep it and share it when they are ready to ask you.We find that by keeping a wish list, instead of raising issues whenever we are annoyed, things tend to fade away that arent important and it saves those heated 'you always leave your towel on the floor' discussions that in the end arent the real issue.

This is a great tip. Like you said, minor things would fade away but the important things would be discussed in a calm manner. Thanks for sharing.

This is definately a great tip - I'll have to try and implement it. I'm definately guilt of bringing it up the heat of the moment, which is a time when it's totally ignored.

I really love this tip! I've been looking for ways for hubby and I to share more things before we get really upset about them and this would be a great way to do that! Thanks!

I really like this idea. It does seem like every time I "asked" my wonderfullllllllllllllllll husband to do something lol or not to do something I get "hit" with a pingpong "task" lol He will probably laugh at me when I suggest it but maybe he will warm up to the idea lol Thanks

This is great! I was thinking of doing a post on marriage too for WFMW, I just have not gotten a chance - I'm glad you did it.
